Day 67

"The Road to Paris" is complete!
Todays run of 12.15 miles from my flat in Worcester to Finstall Park, the home of Bromsgrove Rugby Club sees the end of my challenge. I have really enjoyed this journey, it has given me a goal, a focus and a motivation in a time where everything is uncertain. I have recieved amazing support from my girlfriend Kathleen, friends, family, work colleagues and everyone involved at BRFC. I am so appreciative and humbled by the level of support. My friend Will from Bristol came and surprised me at the finish outside the club which was incredible and a really awesome gesture!
Over the last 67 days I have covered 811 miles, the distance from Finstall Park to the Stade de France in Paris and back again and I am incredibly proud of my achievement.I have achieved this through running or cycling every day which has been tough at times but I have thoroughly enjoyed it. I never thought I would be running half marathons when this challenge started and it might be a while till I run another one.
Thank you so much for the amazing support, it is massively appreciated by BRFC, The NHS and myself. The money that we have raised will really help to support two causes that are really close to my heart.  Please tell your friends and share my page so we can raise as much money as possible. A massive thankyou must go to everyone who has donated money to these great causes, especially DHC services as the main sponsor of my challenge!
I look forward to getting back down to the rugby club to share a beer or two with everyone who has supported my during my challenge.

My story My name is Ed Spalding and I am the Bromsgrove 1st XV captain. We all find ourselves in a very challenging situation. First and foremost make sure you are staying safe in these unprecedented times. I have been a part of Bromsgrove Rugby Football club for 6 years and it has become a hugely important part of my life. These are incredibly difficult times for our club and lots of other rugby clubs all over the country. The immediate effect on BRFC is that we are unable to open for the foreseeable future which is going to have huge financial implications for the club. Therefore I have decided to start a cycling and running challenge to raise money for BRFC and our amazing NHS over the next 4 months. I will be aiming to cover the distance between BRFC's home ground Finstall Park and The Stade de France, the venue for the 2023 Rugby World Cup Final. I will be starting my challenge on the 1st April, aiming to finish by the 1st August, the distance is 810 miles in total

Day 56

Headed out for a run after a day at work and ran 5.86 miles at 8 minute 20 pace so pretty slow but it is still incredibly hot out there, serious amount of sweat! I am very close to the 700 mile mark now which is another amazing milestone to reach, I will then be into my last 110 miles to complete the challenge which is exciting. Day 7:

17.80 miles on the bike today. Took on the same route as yesterday in an attempt to complete an 18-20 miles loop but can't seem to break the 18 mile mark in an hour. I am halfway towards my fundraising target of £1000 and hope I can surpass that mark. Thanks for all the support so far, it is really motivating me to keep going, especially DHC Services as the main sponsor of my challenge! I was also fortunate enough to receive a shout out on the BBC 5 Live Rugby Union Weekly Podcast, promoting the challenge! It was great to hear Danny Care, Ugo Monye and Chris Jones supporting my fundraising challenge for Bromsgrove Rugby Club, a massive thank you to BBC Rugby Union Producer Louise Gwilliam for sorting it all out.  Follow the link to give it a listen, the shout out is in the last 6 minutes.
